Martyrdom of Elderly Palestinian Man from Exhaustion after Crossing Rafah Terminal

The Voice of Palestine

August 9, 2004

Gaza, Palestine -- The 70-year-old Palestinian Fahmi Mohammed Mahdi was martyred last night shortly after crossing the Rafah terminal, medical sources in the city's sole hospital reported.

They said that the old man was on his way back home from Egypt after almost three weeks of waiting at the Rafah terminal due to Zionist closure.

The Zionist measure reflected utter disregard to the well-being of Palestinian women, children and old men like Mahdi who could not bear the torturous waiting under very tough conditions.

The medical sources said that the old man died due to over exhaustion since his old age could not tolerate such cruel circumstances.
