China National Committee on Ageing established “Silver Age Action” for well-educated elderly

Beijing – China National Committee on Ageing established the Silver Age Action program to organize well-educated elderly to assist the development in the western China. This program mainly aims to provide retired educated elderly in Eastern China a chance to help the Western development with their knowledge and intellectual capabilities. (The text is in Chinese.)

推進老齡事業發展的重大舉措“銀齡行動”正式启動

北京 - 經国務院領導同志批准，全国老齡工作委員会組織開展的老年知識分子援助西部大開發行動（“銀齡行動”）启動。這是民政部副部長、全国老齡辦常務副主任在4月13日召開“銀齡行動”启動試点工作会議上宣布的。

“銀齡行動”的具体指導思想是，倡導并組織東部地区大中城市已退下来的老年知識分子援助西部大開發，倡導并組織各地退下来的老年知識分子以各種形式開展智力援助行動。

李宝庫在“銀齡行動”試点工作会議上，針對試点省市区提出的問題，要求各試点單位切實提高對“銀齡行動”重大意義的認識；要精心組織，把准備工作做實、做細；要千方百計為“銀齡行動”籌集資金；要建立一个權威性高、協調能力強的領導机构，保障行動的順利進行；特別是要積极做好宣傳發動工作，動用多種手段，向領導宣傳、向媒体宣傳、向群众宣傳，讓大家清楚知道什麼是“銀齡行動”，為什麼要搞“銀齡行動”，怎樣参加“銀齡行動”。只要把广大老年群众動員發動起来，人人觀注，積极参加，“銀齡行動”就会由星星之火，成為燎原之勢，成為社会公益活動和社会文明的一面旗幟。
