Special chairs for the elderly

Gulf Daily News, 21 May 2003

Bahrain - The American Women's Association (AWA) presented two reclining chairs, specially designed for the elderly, to the American Mission Hospital (AMH) yesterday.

The presentation was made at a special ceremony at the hospital.

The event coincided with the hospital's celebration of International Nurses Week.

AWA president Suzi Wyckoff and community services chairwoman Nazi Murad presented the chairs to hospital chief medical officer Dr Paul Armerding and director of nursing Tim Gardner.

"The AWA endeavours to support the community of Bahrain in many ways and has been a long-time supporter of AMH," said Mrs Wyckoff.

"With our latest BD500 donation made last year, we have been able to purchase these special chairs which will benefit the many elderly in-patients at the hospital."

The specially-designed chairs are a welcome boost to the hospital's ongoing programme of providing the best possible health care at the AMH, said Mr Gardner.

"We pride ourselves in the care that we are able to offer and these chairs further add to our ability to provide comfort and care for the elderly."

The two chairs will be utilised in the medical, surgical and paediatric units.
