Hong Kong Takes Measures to Prevent Outbreaks of Contagious Diseases in Elderly Homes

Hong Kong government is taking measures to prevent outbreaks of contagious diseases in elderly homes. Measures include more government spending on elderly homes, and other preventative measures. Hong Kong Department of Health evaluated all elderly homes in terms of their ability to prevent and control any possible outbreaks of contagious diseases in October. Evaluation showed that most elderly homes have very good hygienic conditions. The government will also spend over 17 million Hong Kong dollars to renovate the health facilities of the elderly homes so that contagious patients can be quarantined in the event of an outbreak.

香港 - 香港正採取措施加緊預防養老院暴發傳染病﹐其中包括增加撥款﹑加強預防傳染病指引和控制等。

香港衛生署22日就養老院預防傳染病措施發布簡報。衛生署長者健康服務部醫生黃惠英說﹐10月底之前衛生署已探訪全港所有養老院﹐評估其實施感染控制的能力﹐並提供及時指導及確定培訓需要。評估結果顯示﹐大部分養老院的整體衛生情況理想。

此外﹐有關方面也已為每家養老院委任一名感染控制主任﹐專責處理關于感染控制和預防傳染病的事宜。黃惠英表示﹐衛生署已在9至11月期間﹐為感染控制主任舉辦多個簡報會及研討會﹔在12月22日派出長者健康服務外展隊到各養老院作實地指導﹐並評估各院舍的護理知識需要﹐以作為未來一年的輔導活動的指標。

另據社會福利署安老院牌照事務處葉小明透露﹐政府將撥出1700多萬港元款項﹐以資助院舍環境衛生及設施的改善工程﹐一旦暴發傳染病時﹐可提供合適的地方隔離照顧受感染的病人。
