Philanthropic Newbury College students were instilled with the spirit of generosity this festive period by helping give Christmas parcels to the over 80s.
As you're tucking into your roast turkey and unwrapping presents with your family by the Christmas tree, spare a thought for the elderly who may not have the same Yule Tide cheer as you.
Newbury College students spared more than just a thought when they helped deliver food parcels to the over 80s in their local area for the Newbury Weekly News Over 80's Christmas Parcel appeal.
First Year BTEC Business students dedicated their time to helping Tesco staff load the vans with the parcels that will make Christmas special to hundreds of elderly people.
Catherine Girod-Burke, course Leader for BTEC Business was keen to get the students involved.
She said: "The students were really enthusiastic on the day. The students were full of Christmas cheer, which made the day even more enjoyable."
The business students also came away with valuable experience, learning how big supermarket retailers organise their operations during busier periods and how team work is essential to enable good customer service at all times.
But most importantly, the students also learnt the value of helping their local community.
Newbury Weekly News stated that one of the hundreds of thank you letters they received said: "The pleasure you all give to us with our Christmas parcel you'll never really know".
