HealthWeek: Medicare Prescription Drugs

By: Kaiser Family Foundation
KFF, February 1, 2002

With the national debate over a Medicare prescription drug benefit resurfacing, ten million seniors lack insurance coverage to help pay their prescription drug bills.  In addition, more than one in four seniors pay at least $1,000 a year out-of-pocket for medications. The newest segment of HealthWeek looks at the challenges facing seniors without drug coverage and describes how some states are helping to fill this critical gap.

The segment, titled “Medicare Prescription Drugs,” will air on PBS stations around the country between February 1 and 8, 2002.  Video of this segment can also be viewed at http://www.kff.org/content/2002/20020201a/ beginning February 1st.
