Septmeber 2, 2004

All new MRT stations, including those along the Circle Line, will be equipped with facilities for the disabled and the elderly.

These facilities include lifts, ramps, handicapped toilets as well as the Tactile Guidance System for the visually impaired.

Transport Minister Yeo Cheow Tong said this in a written answer to a question by MP Indranee Rajah in Parliament.

Mr Yeo also said the accessibility of the entire MRT system will be further enhanced once retrofitting works at the existing stations along the North-South and East-West Lines are completed.

The MRT stations along the North-East Line and Sengkang LRT are already equipped with such facilities.
