Speaking at a media conference yesterday at the board's Country Road, St Michael offices, chairman Henderson Bovell reiterated NAB's commitment to do all they could to assist the elderly.
September has long been celebrated as Senior Citizens' month, and the conference officially kicked off the activities which run until October 2.
The theme for this year is Together We Work, Together We Achieve To Make A Difference For The Elderly.
Director of the NAB Clayton Springer, said some of their plans included an ecumenical church service at St Mary's Anglican Church tomorrow at 10 a.m.
But the highlight of the month will be the inaugural regional seniors games on September 25 to 26 at the National Stadium.
There will be workshops facilitated by clinical psychologist Dr John Bradshaw of Dayton, Ohio, on, Elder Abuse, and Men In Grief, an open day at the Soroptimist Activity Centre, Eden Lodge, on Tuesday from 10 a.m. till 12:30 p.m, open day at the Jorris Dunner Senior Citizens' Home, on September 11, a senior citizens' boat cruise on board the MV Harbour Master on September 21, and more.
There will be fun sports days for staff, cake sales and karaoke.
Springer also promised that the cricket match between the Barbados Cricket Association and Barbados Cricket League on September 15, will be more exciting than recent West Indies performances.
Deputy permanent secretary Carmen Shepherd, assistant director Deiann Sobers, and senior officer Andrew Browne also attended the media conference.
