The first project under the 'Assisted Living Community Centre' for senior citizens, promoted by the LICHFL Care Homes Limited, coming up in Bangalore, will become operational by January next and similar projects are being planned in Kochi and Puri, a top executive of LICHFL said today.
Under the LICHFL Care Homes Limited, about 100 dwelling units were being put up in Bangalore for senior citizens, who were not living with their wards. Such centres will house self-contained residential units where food, laundry and other housekeeping services would also be available, S K Mitter, Chief Executive of LIC Housing Finance Ltd (LICHFL), told a news conference here this evening.
The LICHFL Care Homes Limited is a 100 per cent subsidiary of the 16-year-old LICHFL.
Mitter said such dwelling units would be built away from the cities and would be sold for prices ranging from Rs.five lakh to Rs.eight lakh, depending on the locations. The number of dwelling units would vary from city to city. 'The idea behind promoting such centres was to assist the senior citizens who were living away from their children.''
Mitter said the LICHFL had set a target of Rs.6270 crore for 2005-06 towards individual loans for housing. As on Aug.31 this year, Rs.1925 crore had already been sanctioned throughout the country.
