New Look Entertainment Center for Seniors

China.com News

Shenyang, China

July 22, 2005

A new look entertainment center aimed at senior citizens has opened its doors in the northern city of Shenyang.

According to the Shenyang Evening News, the center, known as an "Entertainment Bar", is run by a residents community and is free to all senior citizens living in the area.

In keeping with its up to date image, the center boasts - in addition to the more usual reading and chatting rooms - a body building room for the young at heart!

The paper says there are around 1 million people over 60 in Shenyang. However, the current number of entertainment outlets is simply not enough with the result that more centres are being built to satisfy the growing demand for spare time activities from the elderly.
