Old Bahraini Man

By Ghayath Sajwani

Saudi Arabia

Mar 21, 2005

This photograph captures the story of many people who lived near the Persian Gulf many years ago. Haji ali el taki is the symbol of the old men in Bahrain. From the photo we can see the weathered face of a man who earned his living form the sea, a typical life for many Gulf people. Even now, old men like the Haji gather and discuss long hours with each other. Often they find consolation in remembering their departed friends.

This picture reveals life in the Arab Gulf.

This photo shows Haji Ali Al Taki smoking (gado) or shesha, a typical pipe and traditional entertainment that Gulf persons used to enjoy.
