A grandmother is a woman who doesn’t have children herself. That’s why she likes other people’s children so much.
Grandmothers actually have nothing to do. They just have to be around. Because they are old, they are not allowed to play wild games like tag. But they don’t have to. It is enough if they bring us to the amusement park where the carousel is and that they have enough money with them to pay for the ride.
Grandmothers are never allowed to say: “Come on, hurry up!”
Usually, grandmothers are chubby. But not so chubby that they can’t tie your shoes for you. They have glasses and very funny underwear. Real grandmothers can take their teeth out of their mouth.
A grandmother doesn’t need to be clever. But if I ask her: Why is God not married?” or “Why don’t dogs like cats?” then she has to be able to answer that.
Grandmothers talk properly with us. They don’t use this strange baby language that these people speak that come to visit sometimes - those who are hard to understand. When grandmothers read something for us it is really nice. If you ask them to they will read the same story over and over again, without leaving out a part.
I can only recommend to everyone to have a grandmother, especially if you don’t have TV. After all, grandmothers are the only adults that really have time for you.
