Text of letter to US Senator Ted Kennedy about
affordable prescription drugs

Dear Senator Kennedy , I am one of the “Bus
People” that went to
Washington DC last week, I
want to thank you especially for coming to our “Lawn Party” to speak
about a meaningful RX Drug Bill with Medicare – not separate private
accounts etc. etc. I also remember signing your petition for Medicare back
in the mid-60’s. I am happy and proud that I did sign.
Dear senator Kennedy, the above (Annemarie attaché d
her drug list) is my personal list of price comparisons. I was in Canada
End of June 2002 and priced my RX’s – an average price
difference of plus 125 on 8
RX compared with Canada. These are our RX drugs, made in USA with the help
of our Tax Dollars through research by NIH. Then the Drug Companies take
out the patients – charge USA customers the highest prices and sell it
at lower prices to other countries!!! They are still making profits –
they do not give the drugs away for charity . Now our “dear”
Republicans from President on down – claim we will have no longer
research if we tie the hands of the poor Pharma Co’s
!!! BS. Pure and simple! They use more money for ads then research.
Dear senator Kennedy – keep up the good work! You
have my support all the way. Senator Clinton received my list on Thursday
(I also faxed it to others in DC and Albany, NY). Senator Clinton asked to
use my name yesterday – fine with me. I did watch C-span yesterday for
several hours and will today too. We are lucky in NY State to have the
EPIC program. It certainly helps me and I signed up
and will use it starting 7-22
my 65th Birthday. Please make sure the RX’s Bill is no less
then the NY EPIC – hopefully it will be better. Thank you in advance for
your continued efforts.
Sincerely,
Annemarie R.Mayer
