Local NGO Supporting HIV/Aids Orphans, Helpless Elders

AIDS Mahiber, alocal NGO working with children affected and infected by HIV/AIDS and helpless elderlies in Addis Ababa said on Thursday it provided educational equipments and used closings on two occasions it collected from donors.
In a press release sent to The Daily Monitor, the NGO said it, in collaboration with the Kebele Administration handed out learning materials to 30 children and closings to 10 elderlies aged between 60-85 in the Kebele 03/09 of the Arada Sub-city in Addis Ababa.
Fifteen of the 30 children are HIV/AIDS carries themselves while the remaining 15 lost their parents for the AIDS, according to the press release.
As part of continuous efforts to help the needy, Befikir Anti-AIDS Director also provided complete set of educational materials including school bags and soaps to the 30 children and closings and soaps to the elderlies on March 3,2008, at a ceremony attended by the Kebele's Educational/Health Bureau and HIV/AIDS Heads.
The ceremony at the Kebele's compound was graced by the World Cultural Ambassador Alemayehu Fantahun who handed out the donation, along with Befikir Anti-AIDS Director Elias
Alemu.
According to the press release, donors Bereket Tsegaye and Guenet Ambachew, residents of the Kebele, while speaking on the occasion pledged commitment to continue to work in partnership with the local NGO, until the needy were rehabilitated fully.
They jointly urged citizens and other NGOs, to extend their humanitarian gesture to help children and elderlies in the kebele and elsewhere in the city.
