New Website on Seniors Issues
By: NCOA
January 28, 2002
I invite you to visit a brand new website
www.canadianelderlaw.ca
It is dedicated to social, legal and ethical issues
affecting seniors in Canada.
The purpose of the site is provide information and
raise awareness of key issues to help advance their rights as full
citizens in Canadian society. It is being developed in stages.
As its starting point, the site outlines the profound
cuts and changes to services to seniors in BC announced January 17th, 2002
and briefly analyses the impact of each of these. It also gives some basic
information on seniors' activism (how seniors and anyone else who cares
about seniors can be involved). It gives some concrete suggestions for
people. There is a rally planned for the BC legislative building for
February 23rd, 2002.
While most seniors do not have access to computers,
people like you do. Please feel free to print up any of the information,
and share it widely with seniors and others.
At this point, the information is largely geared to
British Columbia, Canada because of recent drastic changes here. However,
the activism information can be useful to seniors anywhere in Canada.
As time progresses, the information will be broadened
to issues in other parts of the country.
