About Us

The Health Education Library for People (HELP) is a health education resource centre. It claims to be one of the world's largest consumer health libraries. HELP's aim is to empower people by providing them with health-related information. The goals of HELP are to encourage a healthy doctor-patient relationship, to provide resources for doctors, to be a useful resource for writers and journalists and thus improve the quality of reporting, to prevent health fraud and quackery by educating the consumer, to facilitate the formation of patients' support groups. HELP offers reading rooms with a capacity of 20-25 persons, a collection of 5000 books, 10,000 pamphlets and many magazines and newsletters. Their audio-visual section includes over 100videotapes and 30 CD-ROMs on health-related subjects. HELP also has access to health-related subjects on the Internet. Their computerised library catalogue is now available on http://www.healthlibrary.com

HELP charges Rs 5 per visit. Entry to the library is free for patients referred by their doctor.
