The government of Bulgaria issued the following news release:
The social monthly pension for old age increases on July 1 from 92.53 leva to 100.86 leva, the cabinet decided at today's regular meeting. The definition of the new size is related to a decision to update all pensions by 9.0 per cent as of July 1. The increase of the social pension for old age will lead to an increase of the minimum values of the pensions not related to work - social pensions for disability, civil disability pensions, military disability pensions and personal pensions.
As of July 1, the minimum monthly pension will become 136.08 leva, and the average pension for contributory service and age 288.98 leva, Labour and Social Policy Minister Emilia Maslarova said at the meeting. Thus, the increase of these pensions compared to their 2005 level is two-fold. The decision was made by the Supervisory Board of the National Social Security Institute. The money has been earmarked in the Institute's budget.
