Report: Adequate Housing as a Component of the Right to an Adequate Standard of Living (August 13, 2008)
The Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing, Raquel Rolnik, assessed the right to an adequate standard of living, and the right to non-discrimination. His report to the UN discussed the elements of the right to adequate housing. His work focused on the most vulnerable parts of a population, including older persons. The report urges States to integrate the right to adequate housing in urban planning and housing policies at local and national levels. The report also requests urgent measures to address the plight of the homeless, in particular to stop their criminalization. 

Report: World: Independent Expert on the Question of Human Rights and Extreme Poverty (August 13, 2008)
Magdalena Sepúlveda Carmona, presented this report in accordance with Human Rights Council resolution 8/11. She stressed that nation states have legal obligations towards people living in extreme poverty linked to civil, economic, political, cultural and social rights. She examined the relationship between human rights and extreme poverty, paying particular attention to issues of discrimination and the situation of vulnerable groups, including older persons.

Report: Myanmar: Report of the Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Myanmar (June 3, 2008) 
Following the implementation of Council resolutions S-5/1 and 6/33, Special Rapporteur Tomás Ojea Quintana submitted the present report on the situation of human rights in Myanmar. Unfortunately, the situation of human rights in Myanmar has not changed for the better and almost no improvement has been made. Most of the critical issues still need to be addressed. The report recognizes the difficult situations created by natural disasters and the distress of the victims, in particular that of vulnerable groups such as older persons. The report advocates for assistance to, and protection of, such groups and requests that meeting the basic needs of these groups should be the priority of the concerned Government. 

Report: Rights of Peoples, and Specific Groups and Individuals (April 24, 2008)
This report of Walter Kalin, the Representative of the Secretary-General on the human rights of internally displaced persons highlights the protection of persons displaced as a result of natural disasters. The report stresses the need to help displaced persons in the transitional phase. It also calls on States to incorporate the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement, prepared by the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, into their domestic law and  to address specifically the needs of vulnerable groups including older persons. 

Report: World: Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (January 10, 2008)
This report, submitted in accordance with Human Rights Council resolution 5/1, reflects communications and cases examined by the Working Group during its sessions in 2007. The Working Group transmitted 629 newly reported cases of disappearance to 29 Governments. Eighty-four of these disappearances allegedly occurred during 2007. The Working Group is very concerned about underreporting. With regard to the reported cases of disappearances, the Working Group highlighted its concern about vulnerable people, including older persons.
