ELDERLY PEOPLE IN EUROPE

The lack of appropriate policies in the European Union in relation to elderly people bring up a specific goal : Fight against discrimination in all respects and the establishment of decent pensions and labor protection.

It is also necessary to promote education and combat disability. For Cristina Marking, member of AGE “it is necessary that elder participate actively in European legislation. This is something that we cannot avoid”.

The elders’ worries are the same.

Aging organizations must address inclusion or social exclusion, and pensions, two key aspects. In any case, the European policies are not so favorable for the aged group as ten years ago. But old people should influence: employment, social protection, discrimination, and gender equality.
