GINA/SPSSIS

Getting on the bus of life

Representatives of several countries, such as Australia, Surinam, Mindanao described the NGOs which work with the elderly in their own areas. Research on living conditions of the elderly in poor areas reached to this conclusion: the most habitual request is access to transport. The proposal this round table is going to present to the Meeting focuses on free transport and medical services, as in London or Ghana respectively. They presented the therapeutical advantages of the practice of yoga by the elderly. It is not necessary to have special physical conditions and it is a perfect binomial because it facilitates relaxation and gives energy to the body. Some strategies of the NGOs related to the living conditions of the elderly is to convince politicians of the importance of the elderly people, to form a public opinion about this, to explain the benefits of the independence of the elderly people, etc.
