Visas information Due to the fact that Spain is a member state of the European Union, an identity card will be enough for nationals belonging to the European Union. Visitors from following countries are allowed entry in Spain without having been granted a visa before entry:
* A passport of the People's Republic of China is needed for the Special Administrative Regions of Hong-Kong and Macao. It is recommended for nationals of countries not belonging to the previous conditions to contact Spanish diplomatic offices in the different countries. For the those countries where the visa requirements are compulsory, it is highly recommended to request them one months in advance in order to facilitate the visa applications.
Hotel Information : After registering for the NGO Forum, the Spanish NGO Organizing Committee will send the names of a number of hotels located near the Conference Center. It is our understanding that the hotels will offer free shuttle service to and from the Conference Center. We don't know the schedules of such service. Here are a few hotels that have been relayed to us. There are names that others are considering. This is NOT an advertisement for these hotels; it is to give you a range of the prices. We do not have names of three star hotels. Please check on the Web or with your travel agent to get the precise information. Transports and communications
Every flight arriving in Madrid land at the Airport of Madrid Barajas situated approximately 17 km to the center of the city. Madrid Barajas Airport counts on 3 terminals. The first terminal for domestic flights, the second one for international flights and the third terminal receives nationals from countries belonging to the Schengen Treaty. Local transportation (bus and subways) is available at the Airport. Left-luggage offices are available 24 hours a day in every terminal. Taxis are available outside the Arrival Hall. Furthermore, most companies of car rental have their own offices at the airport.
Foreign trains arriving to Madrid as well as from the East and West parts of Spain, including high speed trains, meet the city at Atocha Station. Trains arriving from the North of Spain at Chamartin Station.
