Nigeria: Prepare Ahead of Retirement,

Journalists Told

Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund boss, Mr. victor Eborajolor, has urged journalists to start in earnest preparing for retirement while discharging their duties.

Speaking to newsmen Eborajolor said "the day you resume your first job is when you should start preparing for your retirement."

He said the Press cannot be ignored in the society as their opinion counts while busy fighting the cause of others. He said there was need for journalists to join the trust fund to take care of their old age.

NSITF, according to him, is a social security scheme, which was open to all to participate.

He said employers have the responsibility to employ staff and remitt what ever should was acru to the NSITF.

He regretted that there were some media organisations that have not been remiting to the fund, but said some were complying, but still owing, while others were not registered, even as some media organisation comply fully.

"NSITF have some responsibility to members which include unemployment scheme, which involves paying members that are out of job for a period of three months with the hope the person could secure another job.
