Romance is for Seniors

By: Unknown Author
About.com, 2002

Senior romance is not an oxymoron, regardless of what you might have been told. Aging is not the end of our romantic urges, in fact some seniors feel their love lives are better than ever.

But even if illness, disability or even desire has made sex wane in your life, romance can still be present. Romance can make you feel wanted, young and vital again. Romance is more than a box of chocolates or a bouquet of flowers...it's  touching hands while eating, smiling across the room at each other, savoring the smell of his jacket or her sweater. laughing or crying over a movie - the use of all our senses.

Sexual closeness is more than intercourse... it's hugging just because you want to, holding hands while you walk, cuddling on the sofa while watching television - the physicality of being.

So take a few minutes each day to reflect on what your life would really be without your partner there, then give them a big hug and tell them you love them -- every day!
