Ontario Boosts Geriatric Care

The London Free Press

Canada

August 3, 2005

The Ontario government is providing more money for geriatric care across the province.

Health Minister George Smitherman says the province will spend $2.7 million on programs meant to improve the quality of life for long-term care residents.

The money will go to creating a seniors' health research network that would promote the use of new research to improve elderly care.

The money will also be used to hire eight people to implement guidelines for treating diabetes, screening for dementia and depression.
